proverbs 16

2 All a man's ways seem innocent to him,
but motives are weighed by the LORD.

we can be doing good things. biblical things. everyone in the world might say that what youre doing is good. but if youre doing those good deeds for a motive other than to give glory to god, its worthless.

7 When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD,
he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.

i have a question about this verse. when youre pleasing god, and in his plan, youre not gonna have a perfect life. how is this verse true?

32 Better a patient man than a warrior,
a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.

just imagine if you can do both.

proverbs 15

8 The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked,
but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

someone asked me today if an unsaved person could do a good deed in gods eyes. i guess not.

17 Better a meal of vegetables where there is love
than a fattened calf with hatred.

and who likes vegetables?

proverbs 13

3 He who guards his lips guards his life,
but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.

i think im pritty good at watching my mouth when im angry at least. the whole passive agressive thing i think.

10 Pride only breeds quarrels,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

if you have advise, lets hear it. i cant scoff at you now cause i just put up this verse, so nows that youve been waiting for.

proverbs 12

1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but he who hates correction is stupid

ill always think of mr harmless when i read this verse. he thought it was cool that the word stupid is in the bible.

9 Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant
than pretend to be somebody and have no food.

i just like this one. people like to pretend theyre something they arent. example: 7th grade PE. theres this little chubster who thinks hes awsome at sports, and he maintains his image in his eyes by pointing out flaws of others. but hes too fat to do any sport well. but he still gets some respect from his peers just cause he belives it himself. but its stupid. i want to smack him.

proverbs 10

8 The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin.

10 He who winks maliciously causes grief,
and a chattering fool comes to ruin

13 Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning,
but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment.

14 Wise men store up knowledge,
but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.

19 When words are many, sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise.

21 The lips of the righteous nourish many,
but fools die for lack of judgment.

recently theres been something that came up where someone should have kept thier mouth shut about something, but somehow it got out. i dont know who it was, but as i was reading this today i immediatly thought of them. i know i should be focusing on myself firsty, but this has been fresh in my mind. anyway i think i can keep my mouth shut when it needs too be.

proverbs 7

this chapters on the adultress. it goes along with my last verse, about wandering by her house straying too close to temptation. and like that, "all at once" he cracked. its not pritty.

22 All at once he followed her
like an ox going to the slaughter,
like a deer stepping into a noose
23 till an arrow pierces his liver,
like a bird darting into a snare,
little knowing it will cost him his life.

proverbs 5

i was just reading a freshman's xanga info and it was talking about how faith was stupid and he hated it. i remember being that way. im not that way anymore. ive learned to learn from the things i dont agree with just as much as the things i do agree with. anyway these verses just kinda went along with that.

11 At the end of your life you will groan,
when your flesh and body are spent.
12 You will say, "How I hated discipline!
How my heart spurned correction!
13 I would not obey my teachers
or listen to my instructors.

proverbs 4

25 Let your eyes look straight ahead,
fix your gaze directly before you.
26 Make level [b] paths for your feet
and take only ways that are firm.
27 Do not swerve to the right or the left;
keep your foot from evil.

this is good for all us going away to college and military and whatever else people are gonna do. keep on the right path. i think over the past years we got a real good start, weather we like to admit it or not. stay on it.
